The 'gull-wing' roof is fabricated largely from ply. The underside
of the roof, which is the ceiling for the living area and level three,
is stressed ply creating an aerolon shape. There are two types of
panel, A and B. Panels type A form the central panels and are 900mm
wide by 9m long, with an additional 900mm overhang to help shade and
screen the windows from rain. Three 900mm panels are bolted together
and lifted into position by crane. This section is then bolted to
the next three panels and so the roof is formed in a day. Panel type
B is the overhang to the North and South of the roof.
